Soft, Loose and Purposeless

Structure made from plywood and bending plywood. Created in CAD and cut using a CNC machine. Hand made ceramic stones with custom glazes are attached to the structure with eucalyptus placed into its holes.

This piece is an attempt to extract with my current state of being as I end this chapter of my life, as well as a space for viewers to experience a joyful spark within them before they move onto their next moment. I believe we are all constantly trying to more forward faster and faster, leaving us unable to take in and really sit with each moment. My main goal for my piece is to make someone stop and feel joy throughout their body and move on through their day a little differently than before.

This installation will take the shape of a curved hallway. I am attempting to create a space within a space and my space will inadvertently juxtapose the space it sits within. I am attempting to strip back technology from my piece in order to reveal a considered use of natural materials: woods, fabrics, clay, etc. I am happy for people to explore my piece freely, because I am also curious about how people are able to compromise bodily space as it relates to the fixed form of my structure. It will be about 12 ft long and the hallway width will be 3ft wide. Because of the curve, the piece will takeup a width of about 6 ft.
